Join the Spiral Dance Living Prayer Wheel at Director Park

Join us as we dance Japanese Bön dances in a circle to create a living prayer wheel dedicated to the happiness and joy of all beings!

Participation encouraged! Bön dances are Japanese folk dances done in a circle. Each dance has a few repeating moves and are easy to learn so you can follow along. We are inspired by Tibetan Buddhist prayer wheels and will transform our circle dance into a living prayer wheel by wearing screen printed ponchos covered with the Mantra “OM MANI PADME HUM” which is a praise of compassion and wisdom and a wish for the happiness of all beings.

Mihoko moved to Portland from Japan and is passionate about sharing Bön dance. Bön dance is part of Japanese contemporary folk and counter culture alongside sustainable food practices and anti-war movement. @bon_dance_picnic
