IN Other WOrds

The first step to creation is communication.
Before form, structure, and meaning came signals.
It can come in many forms.

The Portland Winter Light Festival (PDXWLF) returns in 2027, featuring imaginative pop-up installations that illuminate windows, storefronts, and public spaces throughout the city. Attracting an attendance of 262,000 last year, this city-wide celebration of light encourages people to explore illuminated art, support local businesses, and come together during Portland’s darkest season. An event of the nonprofit Nightlab, formerly Willamette Light Brigade, the festival is free, family-friendly, and open to everyone—shining a spotlight on creativity, technology, and community.

PDXWLF 2027 is a decentralized event featuring pop-up installations in public spaces, parks, and storefronts throughout Portland and the Central City. Anchor sites are located at the World Trade Center, Pioneer Courthouse Square, and the Electric Blocks.
