Light Blade
Feb 6-14, 6–10 PM
Light Blade is a vertical light structure powered by LEDs and custom software, iteratively transforming still images into flowing color and motion.
Light Blade is a permanent light installation integrated into The Geode, a creative building in southeast Portland. Embedded directly into the architecture, the work treats light as an active material rather than a surface or screen.Powered by thousands of LEDs and custom software, Light Blade iteratively transforms still images into continuous motion, producing shifting patterns of color and form. The piece functions as both artwork and architectural feature, inviting curiosity through movement rather than explanation.Created by artist Martin Eichinger, Light Blade reflects a long-standing interest in perception, technology, and how people encounter art in shared public space.
