House Music

A light refracting quilt of compact discs silhouetting an entire house front , that wavers and reacts to stories whispered through tube telephones.

With this piece, by mimicking the classic blank-faced facade of the front of a house with a Compact Disc “quilt” whose myriad surfaces distort and seemingly liquefy all they reflect, we hope to suggest the ways in which a home is constructed of an impossible variety of objects, and people and movements and actions and histories that give animation to the blank face by articulating the collective process of a house continuously becoming a home. The quilt itself moves in enchanting ways, causing new, shifting reflections with each stirring of action surrounding the home. The interactive telephone tubes allow viewers, through the light and material responsiveness, to visualize the narratives they tell of their own homes .
