Oregonian steps into the glow

Oregonian Media Group

The Oregonian sheds light on the important issues that matter to their readers. Light helps people see, and so does journalism. Supporting a festival made of light felt like a clever nod to the work they do every day. It was also a chance to celebrate the city that fuels their stories, debates, features, and rabbit-hole reporting.

How the festival reflects their mission

The Oregonian’s mission is to empower the communities it serves. The Festival embodies the traits they value

• Creativity
• Cultural connection
• Inspiration
• The impish weirdness that gives Portland its charm.

For Oregonian Media Group, the Festival feels like a living snapshot of the community coming together to create something imaginative and openhearted.

What they hope people feel

The Oregonian wants people to feel the pulse of Portland and recognize themselves in the glow.

Stories that still make them smile

A few festival memories have become newsroom legends:

  • The Here is Oregon photo booth at Pioneer Courthouse Square was catching giant bursts of fire in the background as participants captured their selfies.
  • A parade of illuminated bikes gliding under the Here projection at The World Trade Center.
  • A giant glowing Dumpling Week mascot making a surprise appearance at one of the festival’s pop-up locations.

These moments remind the team why partnering with the Festival matters. Light brings people together, but so do shared surprises, accidental theatrics, and charmingly odd ideas that somehow work.

The Festival is grateful for the Oregonian’s support and for their continued championing of the people who make this city shine. Their partnership helps us brighten the season, celebrate creativity, and welcome thousands of Portlanders into spaces where art and community meet. We’re honored they choose to share their glow with us!
