NW Natural

A Partner Rooted in Portland

For NW Natural, supporting the Portland Winter Light Festival is an extension of their deep investment in the city they’ve called home for more than 166 years. Their headquarters sit in the heart of downtown Portland, and they’re committed to contributing to a thriving, welcoming urban core.

The Festival’s spirit aligns perfectly: inviting people to get outside, explore, and rediscover the creativity woven throughout our neighborhoods.

Creativity Strengthens Community

When asked what draws them to the Festival, NW Natural shared a simple truth: creativity makes communities stronger. Supporting artists—especially during the darkest months of the year—creates shared moments, sparks connection, and builds pride in the place we all call home.

For NW Natural, investing in local creatives isn’t an extra; it’s a necessity. It’s part of how they contribute to the region’s flourishing.

A Legacy of Reliability and Care

NW Natural’s message this season is clear: they’re here for Portland. Their team is dedicated to providing reliable energy while supporting initiatives that help communities thrive. That commitment has guided them for more than a century and a half—and continues today as they partner with events that reflect our city’s resilience and imagination.

A Window Wonderland: The Magical Forest

One of NW Natural’s most delightful contributions to the Festival has been the art featured in their downtown windows. In 2025, artists Michael Murdock and Alexander Gabrielli transformed the space into The Magic Forest—an interactive, playful installation that invited festival-goers of all ages to pause, smile, and engage using LIDAR-scanned forest scenes that respond to audience motion.

It embodied what makes the Festival special: unexpected joy, creativity brought to life, and art that reaches people right where they are.
