Roaming costumed creature: Dung Beetle at World Trade Center
Feb 7, 7 & 8 PM
With more dung than ever, Dung Beetle isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty.
After a performance in Egypt, Rhys Thomas of JuggleMania created a Dung Beetle costume complete with a 5′ glowing dung ball. He rolls through festivals like a mythological scarab rolling the sun across the sky. The costume is fiberglass and the ball holds “miasmic” lights. The Dung Beetle is a metaphor for our busy lives making “doo” with what we get. Winter Light Festival is a metaphor for the beauty we can make in darkness. “That’s how I roll,” says Dung Beetle.
