Spider Temple

An illuminated stainless steel sculpture inspired by spider mythology, honoring femme resilience and the unseen labor that supports community.

Spider Temple consists of eight freestanding stainless steel forms, shaped like spider legs and radiating from a shared center. Each leg is illuminated from within; light spilling through intricate laser-cut designs that cast shifting shadows and woven patterns of light. The piece draws inspiration from a 3,200 year old mural of a spider deity in northern Peru’s Virú province. Spiders have long been mythological symbols of elemental balance, fire and water, and the non-binary complexities of femme identity.
