Immerse yourself in RAIN. Share in the joy of rain, the abundance of which is one of the things that makes Portland unique.

The installation of RAIN considers rain in its many guises: gentle, steady, torrential, pouring, gully washer, mist…. RAIN is a defining feature of Oregon. It forms the substance of our rivers, lakes and streams and nourishes our verdant forests, which provide habitat for an incredible diversity of flora and fauna.

No one has considered RAIN better than Langston Hughes in his poem April Rain Song.

Let the rain kiss you Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops Let the rain sing you a lullaby The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk The rain makes running pools in the gutter The rain plays a little sleep song on our roof at night And I love the rain.
