Life on Mars!

The Ida B. Wells High School Makerspace celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first ever mission to Mars – Viking!

Viking searched for life on Mars in 1976 and the Ida B. Wells High School Makerspace found it! This elaborate artistic representation of the Viking mission Lander (and a surprising life form) was carefully crafted by students with the support of IBWHS Makerspace staff and the Viking Mars Missions Education and Preservation Project, a 501c3 nonprofit. Using wood craft, metal, and found objects, this craft represents lights and a universal question at full size! This artistic representation of the spacecraft is making the original mission crew proud!
