Herons Embrace

“Heron’s Embrace” depicts a huge blue heron engaging in hunting behavior. By creating shade with its outstretched wings while standing perfectly still, the bird is better able to spot prey, lulling frogs and fish into a false sense of security. Standing over twenty feet tall with an equally impressive wingspan, our heron eyes viewers with hypnotic intensity as they are welcomed to sit on lily pad cushions. Constructed from vintage Volkswagen parts and over 200 feet of post-consumer plastic, as well as shade cloth gleaned from past Burning Man projects, The Heron welcomes you into the introspective realm of the shadows.
