The Cosmic Messenger by Miki Masuhara-Page is an interactive piece where festival goers can write in chalk upon the chalkboard painted steel frame of a horse and write messages to one another from out of this world and back.
I was born in Santa Fe, NM but was raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. I was homeschooled in my junior high years and then attended King Kamehameha Schools where I embraced my Hawaiian heritage. I enjoyed creating things from a very young age and as I grew older so did my curiosity to explore new mediums and create larger and more detailed sculptures.
I have worked in a variety of mediums, including drawing, painting, woodwork, printmaking, ceramics, glass, welding and fabrication, casting.
I like to work with found objects, they speak to me of what they would like to become and i work with the material to bring it to life.
I enjoy creating artwork that conveys the feeling of happiness, things that make us feel light as a feather, soaring sky high, and uplifted by the things we love such as dreams, thoughts, and love. Anything is possible. Impossibility. Physicality. Physical impossibilities. Engineering. The exhilarating. A moment of awe. Miracle. Capturing a moment in time, motion. Personality, life, story, past present, action, moment. Subverting the expectations of metal work.
Spark imagination and childlike curiosity. Strong connection with imagination, and fantasy. In love with dreaming, both day dreams and night dreaming.
