Pixel Throw-up by Thomas Hudson was inspired by graffiti artists who wanted to make a big impact without a lot of time. The installation will consist of a 24’ x 12’ wall of pixels on lightweight Tyvek material to both hold and diffuse LED modules that play off allowing visitors to steer a pixel across a wall of light with their phone and interact with other visitors’ pixels. Thomas also created glowing buckets that are located in the west plaza.
Thomas Hudson designs and builds electronics for entomologists, museum designers and multimedia artists.
For the 2017 PWLF we’re building a fantastic wall working with Portland digital artist Zach Archer (http://controlzinc.com/). Zach will electronically paint the side of a wall of pixels with vibrant colors and interactive patterns.
