Setting up “Substation Transformation” by Andrew Wade Smith

The Portland Winter Light Festival illuminates Portland’s cityscape, turning the city into a tapestry of light, color, artistry, performance, and imagination for 4 days in February. Hosted at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) and powered by Portland General Electric renewal energy (PGE), this free, all-ages event celebrates the spirit of winter and warmth of community showcasing premier artists from across the region who dazzle visitors with innovative light-based artworks and performance brilliantly awakening the city during a dormant, quiet time of year.

Building facades glow with animated projections, light dances on the water of the Willamette River from bridges above, galleries and storefronts are filled with glowing art installations, parks are brought to life with spectacular lighting, and performances fill the night air with excitement and whimsy.
